I wanted an Instant Pot to be able to cook real food during busy times rather than being tempted by pre-packaged or take out food. A majority of the recipes that I have seen from other source have ingredients like cans of soup or dry mixes that I would never use. Other books also have so many exotic ingredients that most home cooks don't have on hand. This book has so many recipes that use real food and ingredients that I either already have on hand or would also use for multiple recipes. There is nothing more frustrating than buying a bunch of spices that will only be used for one recipe that you may never make again. The book is organized in a way to easily find what you are interested in cooking.

Okay, there are about nine million Instant Pot books out there. It can be difficult and confusing to choose, as many of these books are excellent. I know, I end up buying most of them! But if you have an Instant Pot and are looking for one really good book to use with it, here are some reasons to buy this one:

I was EXTREMELY disappointed with this cookbook. I have six other Instant Pot cookbooks and this is by far the absolute worst. I bought it because it got good reviews, but I will be returning it. Very, poorly edited. Looks like the author just threw this together and did not review it for errors, clarity or continuity. In the dessert chapter there are appetizer and soup recipes as well as a stuffed pepper recipe and a breakfast oatmeal recipe. Many of the recipes don't say how long to cook the recipe. A number of the recipes say to use the Poultry or Soup function but doesn't say for how long it should cook. Some of the directions don't make any sense at all. For example, in the Taco Soup recipe (p.64) the first three steps are written like this: And I quote: "1). In a large saucepan, brown and drain the ground beef. 2). Add the browned ground beef to the Instant Pot. Press the saute button and brown the ground beef. 3). Pull the pre-browned ground beef from the freezer and add frozen to the pot. Add the black beans..." This makes no sense at all. Some recipes list ingredients that are not discussed in the directions and it isn't clear when that ingredient should be added. Some of the recipes just use the saute feature and then say to cook or simmer until done, never using any other feature than "saute". Those recipes are not for an Instant Pot. There is no index. I could go on. There are many, many other Instant Pot cookbooks that are worth your hard earned money, but this is not one of them.

I noticed several recipes were repeated in different sections and some recipes were stove-top directions and not for the Instant Pot.Also, some of the recipes would say 1 cup of noodles or rice or beans but it didn't say if it should be raw or cooked first. The amount of liquid in the recipes didn't seem sufficient to me to cook it and the time was set for 6 minutes which didn't seem like enough time to cook raw noodles, rice or beans, for example. It didn't make sense to me.There are many other good Instant Pot cookbooks out there. Unfortunately this is not one of them! I cannot recommend it.
