this book is the help I needed to help me keep in diabetes under control

The book is great. I was looking for a book that could help me learn how to cook soul food and still be healthy. I am diabetic and I am one of the few Black women who did not get to learn how to cook at my Mama's knee or kitchen as it might be. It is hard enough to learn how to cook anything in a way that is still fun to eat when you are diabetic let along soul food. There is such a tradition and the taste has to be just right (if you don't have a ham hock or some fat back somewhere) or it's just ain't happening,you know what I mean. So I am delighted to say that the recipes in this book keep the delicious in the food while raising the standard of healthy cooking. And the taste is make you wanna dance good. I love this book and these doctors. I appreciate them taking the time to put together this cook book for those of us with health issues. I loved it so much I bought the Family Style Soul Food Cookbook for the rest of my family who aren't diabetic but do need to change up on their eating habits.Thank You so much.

In Color is a broad range of less seen color work from master photographer Bruce Davidson. There's magazine and commercial work, images from India, China, Ireland, and of course the USA. As a Bruce Davidson fan this was an interesting book but I think his strongest color work is to be found in the Subway book. The color reproductions are crisp and vivid and the hardcover binding is solid. There is a generous amount of white space around the photos, perhaps a bit too much. But for a Bruce Davidson fan this is a well produced book that let's you see a different side of an accomplished photographer. If this is your first Bruce Davidson book I would suggest Outside Inside, East 100th Street, or Brooklyn Gang.

In the not so distant past I worked at a few book stores. A problem I ran into frequently was finding books for teen boys. The YA market is flooded with books meant solely for girls. Boys have always been a harder sell when it comes to reading and publishers haven't made it an easier job, especially when they have flooded the teen market with paranormal romance.So recommendations for teen boys often meant I would recommend The Hunger Games. Unfortunately many guys aren't too keen on reading a book in which the main character is a girl, no matter how good the story is. So after going through the other 5 or 6 good teen guy books I could think of I would often recommend a book in the general fiction and literature section, but parents often fear that their children will encounter questionable subject matter. Which they may, but they should also remember many of the books their children read in school are found in the fiction and literature not the teen section.I found "I am Number Four" to be a great action adventure, that followed the traditional hero archetype. The main character, number Four or John Smith, is as relatable as a alien teenager on the run can be. The surrounding cast of characters rounds out this alien boys average existence, Henri, his alien guardian/father figure, Sam, his nerdy best friend, Sarah, his crush, and Mark, a bully and Sarah's ex. John is Number Four and knows he is next.This is a story that is full of action and adventure and makes for a very fast read. It will also have readers checking out the other books in the series to learn more about this world and those that live in it. Reading how John fights to stay alive makes for an amazing read and will have readers hoping for more about him in the other books. It will also have readers hoping for a good ending at the end of the series. The book is full twists and turns and definitely takes readers on a roller coast ride that is unforgettable.
So I watched to movie for this and thought hey this is pretty good, I wonder what the book is like. Yeah I know, generally it is the book is so much better since there is more detail and plot development.Which did happen to be the case here. Which is nice since it had the potential to be a full blown train wreck. Let's face it a book about an alien teenager coming of age on the Planet Earth with enemies looking for him so that they can kill him and his other Alien refugees (but it has to be done in numerical order) has the potential to be a whole load of sour grapes. Fortunately for me (although maybe not for fans of Twilight) the author doesn't wallow in the pathos of being a teenager and an outsider in overwhelming detail. Enough to know it is there and to add to the overall sense of loss that is supposed to be a part of the Main Character's life.This book is every bit as good as the movie at delivering good pacing, without letting the 'alien' aspects of it overwhelm the story.I am quite impressed and will be looking forward to reading more of this authors work.
I Am Number Four is a Sci-Fi book about a fifteen-year-old alien boy called Number Four, or John. Number Four is from a planet called Lorien, which was overrun by an alien race called the Mogadorians when he was a small child. Four and 8 others made it out, along with their Cêpans, who are assigned to protect the 9 "Garde". The Loric made a long journey from their home planet to present-day Earth. Now the Mogadorians are on Earth, searching for the last of the Loric race, to eliminate them for good. So far, the Mogadorians have killed One, Two, and Three. Now they are on the hunt for Four.My favorite part of the book has to be the final battle with the Mogadorians. I enjoyed this part mainly because of the never ending suspense and thrill throughout the whole battle. The fight does feel a bit long at points, but still maintains excitement throughout the entire battle. Another one of the reasons that I enjoyed this part was all the main characters in the novel coming together to fight against the Mogadorians. There are many other exciting and suspenseful segments of the book, but the battle is my favorite.On the other hand, my least favorite part of the book is definitely Four's dreams/flashbacks to Lorien. Throughout the entire book they feel unneeded and do not contribute to the plot other than maybe one or two of them. The flashbacks give the feeling that they are in the book only to fill space, and not to entertain the reader. Some people may feel different about them, and may enjoy learning about the lore and backstory of Lorien. Other than the flashbacks, I enjoyed most of the book and would recommend it to others.This book can easily appeal to many different kinds of people, with the sudden hints of romance included, and the intense and thrilling battles against the Mogadorians. In my opinion, the book is mainly written for people who like reading Sci-Fi and learning about alien life. However, the book does manage to include some romance and drama.

I like this book for the beginner needle felter that I am. It is instructive and gives me some idea of how to needle felt and some tricks of the trade. I am an experienced artist and sculptor, but this is my first try at needle felting. Since I like to teach myself new things, I thought this book would be a good start. It was a good choice. It is easy to understand and follow. I will probably try some of the ideas in it as well although I mainly wanted it for tips and tricks.
It DID say "Beginner's Guide" in the title. But... the projects presented here are nothing I'd ever consider wasting materials on. Most looked like a child could do it (or did it) - and some even looked like they were simply cut out of cheap ready-made felt and glued together. Now what is the point of buying roving, needles, and a felting mat if it looks like a 29 cent craft when you're done? And does anyone really want a full set of fuzzy tea cups and saucers? There was no blending of colors or fine detail; in fact, in the case of the doll it was left faceless and shapeless which was kind of creepy. The worst thing I saw was a photo demonstration of a needle technique that would almost certainly require the use of band-aids later! Dyeing the felt with my own blood is not something I'd go for.This is a 64 page booklet on very good paper with very good color photography of very poor projects - really not worth the price even discounted.
Covers the basics of needle felting quite well, so does the job as advertised. Guess I was hoping for a few more "tricks of the trade".
I have a group of friends who get together every few months do craft... often trying something new. I got this book and a bunch of supplies and we had a terrific time felting. The instructions worked well and the pictures were very clear. Good introduction to felting and a wide variety of project ideas - everyone in my group was happy with their project.
I was hoping that this book would be a useful guide for me as I am a beginner. It is way more than I expected! I love it!

This book contains many project ideas, as well as clear instruction for the beginning needle felter. I used this book for homeschool projects for my children and it was perfect for our needs to introduce needle felting as a craft skill.
It really is a beginners book, just as the title says. But it is a good book with lots of pictures, good beginner information and little projects that I think will be fun to try. Not at all sorry I purchased it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS GRAMMAR BOOK! Great for all ages! I also bought the big teachers guide with all the answers and this workbook included. The teachers edition is an all-in-one book so you could actually just get that and photo copy the workbook pages from it. I actually found it easier to buy both books to save on printer ink!
Great book, would definitely recommend! I'm a homeschooling mom and I started using this workbook with my 12 yr old (11 at the time). I also bought the teacher's edition which contains all the answers as well as the same pages in this workbook. I'm glad I did. When my 12 yr old was about halfway through the workbook I started my 9 yr old on it. I take pictures of the blank workbook pages contained in the teacher's edition, send them to my email, then print them off for my 9 yr old to do. I like the approach this author uses and it seems to work well with both my kids (even my stubborn 12 yr old who hates grammar and sometimes struggles with it).
I used this book with my daughter a couple years ago and she is a grammar whiz still. Now it’s my son’s turn. I love the simplicity of this book, how easy it is to grasp what is being taught, and how well it sticks in their minds. All around amazing.
I volunteer teaching through the literacy program to lower level readers and preparing for the GED exam.I ordered this book because I have difficulty with grammer basics myself. The instructions are easy to understand, and the worksheets help make grammer basics easy to understand, and gives me direction to help others.The material will work well for children or adults, and is well worth the money spent.
This book has so many grammar errors, it is not funny. I teach Language Arts Middle School. It would have been a great additional practice for my students if it didn't have so many mistakes. Also outdated. Still had abbreviations of states as capital letter, lower case, and a period. Also, quotation marks in dialogue were in wrong place. I had to trash it. Too bad. I wanted it to work.
This is the best approach to teaching grammar. I use this in my daily teaching. I use it at home with my kids, too. Consistency is the key. I highly recommend .
It is an excellent grammar book. As an experienced 5th grade teacher, I highly recommend this book.
Use this workbook with the main book, if you want to keep a clean copy and if you don't want the answers to be too easy for your child to read.
