Really good and useful for learning to drawing females.
I have purchased this title from a 3rd party vendor. The transit time between the order date and the date of delivery was almost 2 weeks, under standard ground shipping. It is very slightly used, but for all intensive purpose, it is as good as new.Many reviewers have already pointed out that this is not a beginner's material. Yes, they are correct. I would also add that, if you want to learn how to draw human figures, study figure drawing first. Build up the foundation first before delving into manga. A good low-cost book for this purpose would be something like DRAWING HEAD & FIGURE by Jack Hamm. However, be aware that no amount of books can be a substitute or learning how to draw from live models.Now, I have two books by Hikaru Hayashi: HOW TO DRAW MANGA: FEMALE CHARACTERS and HOW TO DRAW MANGA: MORE ABOUT PRETTY GALS. If you like Hayashi's instruction books, then I recommend studying HTDM: FEMALE CHARACTERS before MORE ABOUT PRETTY GALS. The former covers anatomy, including eyes and lips; the latter focuses on clothing. If your budget can only afford one book, then choose the former.

First of all, let me start by saying that after seeing this book for myself, I strongly disagree with what other reviews have said about it. Anyone who would label this book as hentai, has never actually seen hentai. This book is simply very descriptive about how to draw the female figure in the traditional style of Japanese Manga.This book shows you how to draw the female figure perfectly, and in order to do that, you need to learn how to draw a female nude first before learning about drapery and how to best draw them in a clothed form by making the clothes fit to the body's contours.This is pretty basic stuff for any art student, or hell, anybody who's attended an art class, so I'm guessing the people who called this hentai were either children, or just easily offended by the sight of a nude woman.That said, the book did go a bit further into detail on how to draw a woman's crotch than I felt was necessary, but it's not as bad as other reviewers are making it sound. It doesn't actually show you how to draw female sexual organs or anything like that, nothing truly obscene, it just has a rather large section on how to shade the area and how to make panties sit just right, which I didn't feel was entirely necessary.There are a few depictions of women in rather provocative positions as well, but it's nothing that should prevent you from buying the book.All in all, this is a good reference book on how to draw female characters.I found the sections on eyes and hair very helpful, and I feel that the artists lack of shyness towards teaching readers how to draw the female figure in such detail makes this book more helpful than some others that are too bashful about it.When you get right down to it, it's just art... The writer didn't make this book for guys to oogle at, he made it to teach others how to draw the female figure well, and did an excellent job of it.If you're shy about drawing the female figure or simply too young to understand art, then this book is not for you.Another excellent book on how to draw female manga characters is "How To Draw Manga Volume 22: Bishoujo Around The World" it teaches you a lot about how to draw women from a wide-range of different nationalities.

Richards founds much of his powerfully felt argument on the broad human rights theories espoused by abolitionist feminists like Lucy Stone, Abby Kelly, and Frederick Douglass, whose radical ideas (some of which influenced the poetry and politics of Walt Whitman) were later repudiated by suffragist feminists, who thought it more expedient to challenge one prejudice at a time. They were similarly rejected by temperance activists like Catharine Beecher and Frances Willard, essentially conservative women who had formed a brief, tempestuous alliance with the suffragists in the decades before the First World War. In resurrecting the writings of these sometimes-obscure political figures to help assess recent Supreme Court verdicts and state legislation, Richards makes a convincing case that "we must identify such dissident interpretive traditions, understand how they achieved such better readings of basic American constitutional principles, and carry this tradition forward today in ways that enable us... to achieve less flawed and more principled interpretations of basic constitutional values." --Regina Marler

The legal status of lesbians and gay men in contemporary America continues to be controversial, as illustrated by these two very different titles, both by professors of law. Richards aims to combine "interpretive history, political philosophy, and constitutional argument to make sense of the background, development and growing impact of two of the most important movements of human rights currently on the American constitutional scene: feminism and gay rights" and ends by claiming to have explored "the interpretive fertility of antebellum abolition feminism in both the understanding and criticism of contemporary interpretive developments in the areas of gender and sexual preference." His analysis, however cogent, is undermined by a downplaying of lesbians in the title and elsewhere, a problematic conceptualization of "moral slavery," and Richards's often nearly impenetrable prose. In contrast, the rhetorical proposition in the title of Robson's exploration of lesbians and the legal machine is pointedly provocative and witty as well. This challenging collection of 13 essays can be read as a continuation of her previous book, Lesbian (Out)Law: Survival Under the Rule of Law (LJ 6/1/92). Applying queer theory to her examination of the legal system and legal theory to the concept of lesbianism, Robson confronts the complexities of such issues as lesbian identity, class, violence, marriage, and parenting. The writing, a heady mix of pedagogy, lesbian sex, and jurisprudence, is dense and iconoclastic but always intellectually stimulating, ultimately rewarding the reader who perseveres: "But in addition to their danger, both essentialism (modernism) and constructionism (postmodernism) present possibilities for an emancipatory enterprise such as a lesbian legal theory." About the Author
John G. Lake (1870–1935) was born in Ontario, Canada. While he was still a child, his parents moved to the United States. At the age of twenty-one, he became a Methodist minister, but chose to start a newspaper instead of accepting a church ministry. When his wife suffered from a prolonged, life-threatening illness, she was miraculously delivered under the ministry of John Alexander Dowie in April 1898. This experience forever altered the direction of John G. Lake’s life and ministry. In 1907, Lake closed his bank account, gave away all his money and real estate, and began an independent evangelistic work by preaching Christ, healing the sick, and baptizing new believers. Lake is probably best remembered for his missionary efforts in South Africa, but his ministry in the United States was also powerful. One hundred thousand healings were recorded in five years at the Divine Healing Rooms he established in Spokane, Washington.

As far as I'm concerned this author spent far too much time, chapter after chapter discussing producers, promotors and agents this was far more than extremely boring/ I also felt there were areas of Lucy's life that were betrayal to her life and some extremely personal factors that were beyond what should have been public there were instances that were very be done in half the words although entertaining and funny some of which was not discussed in her own autobiography that was only found after her death. on top of all that I found the entire book much too much wordy the book could probably be written with half the words took forever to get through and many times I would put the book down and not even bother to finish
I saw that there were varying opinions regarding this book. As for me, I definitely enjoyed reading it. I would recommend it to anyone. I think it was very well written.I was five years old in 1954 when we bought our first television, and my whole family thoroughly enjoyed the I Love Lucy show.I did not really know anything about the Lucy outside the TV screen. Although some reviewers said there were many inaccuracies, I think the book was somewhat balanced in portraying a person who was after all as imperfect as many of the rest of us. She did have some good qualities that perhaps made up for some of her less-than-honorable traits. I admired that she stayed loyal to her mother throughout and to her co-star, Vivian Vance. She stuck by her unfaithful husband, Desi, a lot longer than many women would have. It was apparent that she loved him and the feeling was mutual.
Excellent biography of a talented and beautiful woman who rose from a B actress prostituting herself just to survive to the First Lady of television comedy.
I love listening to this audiobook it gives in such detail of the life of Lucille ball her marriage to desi her children the two other shows she stared in after the end of I love Lucy and how Lucille died in 1989
Very interesting and thorough, but I wish it had pictures.
Just infuriation about what made Lucille affective and it wasn't just natural talent. Very interesting if you love Lucy.

What a beautiful and amazing book. I smiled, I wept, I hoped, I was devastated, I was moved over and over again. Stories like these need to be told, they need to be shared, not only the tales of the unsung heroes in the ER, but the stories of those whose lives are touched by going there.Not only is Dr. Green a compassionate and insightful doctor, but he is a talented and intriguing story teller. I would love to read more from him.
What a great tale of the agony and the rewards of being an ER doctor. A series of vignettes that can be read individually or all at one sitting -- just be prepared for the giant waves of emotions that accompany some of the stories. Besides being a super read, it is blessedly free of typos, poor grammar and incorrect versions of words. Loved every minute of it.
This author has a sincere talent for telling a story. He brings you into the room and you feel like you're there experiencing all of the emotions/thrills/horror/excitement of each case. People who work in the ER will appreciate and identify with each story. People who don't work in the ER will be fortunate to get a glimpse into what emergency medicine is like. Thanks Dr. Green!
I have worked as an ER doctor for 10 years and nothing at all prepared me to read this book. It is the best and most critical evaluation of what happens in an ER and truly is a masterpiece. You will laugh, you will cry and you will enjoy seeing all dimensions of life, work and death in the ER. I love my job for the reasons I love this book. All these intense emotions and situations are distilled into the best and worst of what it means to be human.
Trauma Room Two provides the reader with the experience of what it is like to be the patient, the family, and the physician in those difficult moments when life hangs in the balance in a hospital emergency room. These stories evoke a lot of powerful emotions because Dr. Green's writing provides a first hand experience of each of the participants. This is a physician author who writes with talent, authenticity, and impact. A must read book.
I just read the last short story in this book and the tears are still running down my cheeks. "Remember This" was truly the most beautiful thing I've ever read. The story tells of the death of an old lady and those trying to save her, and her desire to pass over, and their professional need to keep her here. I can't help but wonder if Dr. Green himself had not had a near death experience in order to write so brilliantly of an old women's attempt to stay in heaven only to find herself drawn back to life again and again until at last she made the final journey. All the stories in the book were well written, interesting, and fast paced. In the telling of each, Dr. Green showed his compassion, his sense of humor, and the love of the profession he embraced. In the final story he showed his humanity and grace. You'll enjoy each of the stories in this book, but buy the book for the last story and savor each and every word. It's a reading experience you're never going to forget. I hope that if I ever find myself in a trauma room, I also find a doctor there like Dr. Green. Any time a physician writes a book, his personality and humanistic traits show through. A reader can pretty much tell not only the kind of doctor he is, but also the kind of person who lives behind that white coat.Dr. Green not only entertained me for awhile, his writing of " Remember This" touched my soul unlike anything I've ever read.
Well, I don't quite know what to say about this book. Writing is excellent, however, it is a narration as opposed to a dialogued story. Very little action except through one persons eyes. I did enjoy it but not quite what I am used to. I am used to books wherein there is interaction between people, this book had little to none. It was one man's thoughts and one man's impressions, not what really I was expecting. The author claims this is a work of fiction. Was it, or did he simply wish to avoid a lawsuit? I don't know. It certainly holds one's interest, I have to say that, but I don't think I would purchase again due to the lack of action and interaction between patients, doctors, paramedics and other health care workers. It was sort of like the author was "daydreaming". But it is particularly lyrical and well written.
I really loved this book. I'm not sure of the exact balance of fiction and nonfiction here, but it's obviously based on many of the life-and-death scenarios this ER physician has experienced. He also has a great imagination which enhances the cumulative value of his experience, to convey to the reader his unique perspective. His spiritual views differ from mine (I am a Bible believing Christian), so I might not imagine things in the same way he does, but he is a powerful storyteller, and his stories touched me very much, emotionally. Some of them have surprise endings, and each seems to explore different aspects of emergency room medicine. I would hope that if I were in a life-threatening situation in an ER, I would have a doctor as caring and conscientious as he is! I am sure this man has saved many lives. I was very moved by the story of the drug addict, and I especially loved the last story in the book. Thank you, Doctor, for sharing your heart.

This was a generous synopsis of the city. It was useful but I just with it had more headings or subject titles so I could easily see the parts that I needed instead of reading through paragraphs.
If you're looking for a comprehensive guide to the city with in-depth recommendations around dining, hotels, shopping and activities, this IS NOT the book for you. While the overviews are insightful, they are not enough to do in depth planning.
